The Workshop
In this two session class, you will think beyond a limited palette and be introduced to methods of printing in 4 color CMYK and layered spot color and prepare any artwork to be printed for the risograph machine in complex colorways. Each workshop attendee will get an edition of 25 prints of their own, along with an edition of prints from everyone else who attends.
Located at the TXTbooks studio, this 6 hour(3 hour per session) hands-on workshop will be limited to 8 participants per section and will be taught by Nichole Shinn.
The class will start with an overview of complex risograph printing with multi-color channels. We will then go through a demo on various file preparatory techniques. We will observe and critique work samples together as a class and engage in examples of 4 color+ printing.
From there, the class will have a working session to prepare and separate your files to print with one-on-one help from the instructor. We will teach you how to get everything ready for a printer. At the end of the first day we will have begun printing some of the first layers on your prints. The following class day will be spent printing editions together as a class.
After the in-class sessions are complete, your personal editions of 25 prints up to 11”x17” will be finished printing by the instructor and mailed out the following week. In addition to your edition, you will receive a print pack with one print from everyone else who participated in your session.
